Meet a Grant Recipient
vbjfkdfjkdjRoots, the week long multi-cultural summer arts program for children was in danger of cancellation until emergency funding was provided by a $2,500 grant from the Evans Family Fund of the Manatee Community Foundation.
Thirty-five children, ages 6-12, joyously filled Project Light’s small facility with dance, songs, art and literature.  Participants explored the “Dream” theme by creating dance dreamscapes, painting personal pillowcases, keeping dream journals and performing the music and dance of “Any Dream Will Do” from Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat.

Top notch instructors for the week included Rick Kerby, Manatee Players Artistic Director, Leymis Bolanos – Wilmont, Director of Fuzion Dance Artists, and Roots Program Director, Scott Blum, ewgfwetwtw ESE Specialists for Manatee County Schools.

Roots week is presented annually by the Manatee County Cultural Alliance in collaboration with Healthy Start Coalition and Project Light.
