Lakewood Ranch Community Fund
Many people who live in Lakewood Ranch choose to set up their own charitable funds, allowing them to give to nonprofit causes important to them.
Others prefer to make charitable gifts to the Lakewood Ranch Community Fund of Manatee Community Foundation, allowing them to support a variety of nonprofit organizations that serve people who live or work in the area. In 2000, the Lakewood Ranch Community Fund was created to serve the people and interests of the Lakewood Ranch community and to allow donor-allocated funds to stay in our region, serving a variety of charitable interests.
The Fund is set up under the umbrella of Manatee Community Foundation to reduce management costs and allow more assets to remain in the community.
To date more than $1,300,000 has been awarded to 100 qualified 501(c)(3) organizations that serve or impact Lakewood Ranch and east Manatee/Sarasota county residents including missions related to education, youth, sports, elderly, health, environment, libraries, arts and culture.
Each year, the Lakewood Ranch Community Fund presents the C. John A. Clarke Humanitarian of the Year Award to honor individuals who have distinguished themselves through their high professional standards, unwavering ethical and moral values, and steadfast dedication to improve the quality of life for people in our community. Past winners include Diane Brune, Angela Massaro-Fain and John Fain, Don and Vanessa Baugh, and Lee Wetherington.
